Reading “Music from Trees” on WP blog site “Calvary Notes” inspired me to think about the connection of human creativity and nature. The YouTube video clip “森の木琴” is a commercial from a Japanese company “NTT DoCoMo”.
The products are made from woods that requires cutting trees from the forests. The company calls our attention to replenish the resources we taken from nature. It raises our conscious on the environmental impacts from our commercial activities and how we must minimize the adverse effects. Furthermore, it demonstrates that we can make music from the “wood” we cut from the trees. It is really a creative effort by the workers. Here is a video showed the scenes behind this creativity.
The music is J.S. Bach – “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” — Chorale from Cantata No. 147. Here is a piano arrangement performed by Myra Hess.
