A New Name “Whispering Pines”

More musicians joined NTU Alumni Chamber Ensemble in 2013 and our members had grown to a total of twelve. The new members were graduated from Universities other than NTU (National Taiwan University) and among them, three were music major. They bring in new insights and professional experience into the Ensemble. To reflect the presence of many non-NTU alumni in the Ensemble, we decided to change our name. This change will inspire us to look forward and focus less on our past.

We decided not to name our Ensemble after “Places” or “Composers”.

Several names were proposed, and we narrowed them down to “Living Spring” (活泉) and “Whispering Pines” (松濤).

  • “Living Spring”: fresh, vitality, flowing, renewal, smooth
  • “Whispering Pines”: responsive, tenderness, listening, attentive, communicating

Finally, we chose “Whispering Pines” (松濤) as our new name. We felt this new name represents the characteristics and elevates the artistic vision of our Ensemble. Driving around the surroundings of our residences, we enjoy the rows of pine trees alongside the streets, on the hills, in the parks and around the buildings.
